objectifying men in pop culture

The Men of “Shelter”

April 18th, 2008 Posted in Picture Post

I don’t know if it’s just me, but there seems to be two kinds of gay films: good films that are so dark and depressing they make you want to slit your wrists or crappy films that are just porno retreads with a little more plot.

I finally got to see “Shelter” today on Here! TV, and I was glad to say that it’s neither of those. It was well made: very heartwarming and “true” in a way that people reacted to certain things that are typical in a gay man’s life. It was still sexy, as you can see from the caps below. Most of all it was very romantic; I think that’s the thing I crave the most in gay films and you don’t see it very much.

So, I definitely recommend checking it out if you have Here! TV, or you can pick up the DVD on May 27th.
